Flights canceled, roads locked due to snowfall, storms across Turkey

Heavy snowfall and storms across Turkey paralyzed ordinary life, blocking roads and leading to the cancellation of many domestic and international flights. 
Turkish Airlines announced on Dec. 30 that it had cancelled a total of 258 scheduled flights due to bad weather conditions.

Istanbul mayor announces eight new metro lines

Istanbul Mayor Kadir Topba? announced on April 20 that eight new metro lines along with a pedestrian sub-sea tunnel are planned to be built in his third term, which he described as his "master term." 

While submitting the 2015 Action Report to the municipal council, Topba? spoke about his plans for his third term.  

Boyfriend shoots dead 16-year-old girl at schoolyard in Turkey's Aksaray

A 16-year-old high school student has been shot dead by her boyfriend, allegedly for wanting to break up with him, in the yard of her school in Central Anatolian Aksaray province. 

Elif Zelal Yeni was shot and killed with a rifle by 18-year-old Samet Ermi? at the schoolyard of Osman Gazi Anatolian High School, where she was a student, at 2:30 p.m. on Feb. 11.
