New justice minister vows to take further measures against domestic violence
Turkey's new Justice Minister Bekir Bozdağ on Feb. 2 said that domestic violence and violence against women will continue to be the first item on the agenda that his ministry will tackle.
"I instructed my friends. It is clear what has been done so far. We will work on what we can add to them, how we will take further steps," he said at a meeting on domestic violence.
Farmers warn of damage caused by wildlife
Ljubljana – Farmers have been pointing out the serious damage caused by wild animals, as the Slovenian Forest Service (ZGS) estimates that it amounts to between EUR 400,000 and EUR 800,000 per year. The most affected region is Pomurje in the north-east, and the damage is most often caused by wild boars and deer.

Coast Guard captures more than 21,000 irregular migrants this year
The Turkish Coast Guard has caught more than 21,400 irregular migrants in Turkey's seas between January and Dec. 6.
In the whole of last year, the Coast Guard intercepted nearly 14,000 people in 594 incidents of irregular migration.
From the start of this year until early December, 768 such incidents occurred, the Coast Guard said.

Ombudsman proposes free testing for people who need healthcare
Ljubljana – The Human Rights Ombudsman had proposed that the government enable rapid antigen testing for coronavirus for all users of healthcare services, who are currently obliged to meet the recovered-vaccinated-tested (PCT) rule. This would protect the system from new infections and prevent irreparable deterioration of health of individuals, it believes.
