Eurasia Tunnel opens partially to service on Dec 22

The Eurasia Tunnel, the first ever road tunnel underneath the Bosphorus Strait in Istanbul, opened partially to service early Dec. 22. 

The passages between the Kazlıçeşme district on the European side and the Göztepe district on the Asian side have one lane on each side due to security reasons, according to officials. 

First road tunnel under Istanbul's Bosphorus opens

The Eurasia Tunnel, the first ever road tunnel underneath the Bosphorus Strait in Istanbul, opened on Dec. 20 in an official ceremony with the attendance of President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and Prime Minister Binali Yıldırım. 

The tunnel is slated to open to service early on Dec. 21 for a 15 Turkish Lira ($4.2) entrance fee until the beginning of 2017.

An underwater tunnel that will considerably shorten the duration of travel for vehicles from Istanbul's Asian side to the European side is slated to open on Dec. 20 in an official ceremony attended by President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan and Prime Minister Binali Yıldırım.

One of Turkey’s mega projects, the Eurasia Tunnel, which allows automobiles transit access between the Asian and European sides of Istanbul under the Bosporus strait, will be transited by President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan in an official test drive on Saturday. President Erdogan will drive from Europe to Asia through the tunnel in his official car.

Istanbul's Eurasia Tunnel opens for test drive

An underwater tunnel that will considerably shorten the duration of travel for vehicles from Istanbul's Asian side to the European one will be tested on Oct. 8, with President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan expected to take a test drive in the tunnel with an official car, daily Sabah reported Oct. 7.

Asphalt work for the tunnel was completed before the first passage.
