Eurasian lynx

The Iberian lynx, once on the brink of extinction, has made a remarkable recovery and is no longer considered critically endangered.

Ljubljana – Efforts to rejuvenate the lynx population in the north-western Gorenjska region have proved successful as the first kittens have been born after five lynx were released into the wild there under the Life Lynx project. This comes after a successful rejuvenation of the lynx population in the south of the country.

After several decades of low numbers, the return of the lynx to the European forests is slow but steady. The Eurasian lynx was once quite common in most of Europe.

A lynx, a wild cat in the International Union for Conservation of Nature's (IUCN) Red List of Threatened Species, has been photographed in the eastern Turkish province of Tunceli.
