European Arrest Warrant

Israeli mining magnate Beny Steinmetz has been detained in Cyprus on a Romanian-issued arrest warrant, a spokesperson for Steinmetz said on Sunday.

Police on Monday announced the arrest of a Greek man in Thessaloniki in northern Greece who was wanted in Germany for drug dealing, based on a European arrest warrant. 

The 39-year-old had an arrest warrant issued against him by Germany after 447.88 grams of cocaine were found on his business premises in February last year. 

"The founders of Nexo, Antoni Trenchev and Kosta Kanchev, do not appear on either the Interpol or Europol lists, as they have not been issued red notices and European arrest warrants." This is what the Nexo company said in a press release.

District Court - Stara Zagora decided to extradite a young Bulgarian who worked in a call center to Germany. He was requested with a European arrest warrant after four other colleagues of his were detained and extradited, reported the court's press center.

During a specialized police operation conducted on June 4 by officers of the Search Sector, a 38-year-old man was found and detained in the capital. He has been declared wanted by a European arrest warrant, and a red bulletin has been issued by Interpol for his detention at the request of the authorities in Athens, Greece. 

The court decides if Marinela Arabadzhieva will be set free. She is in the custody from May 30, when she was extradited to Bulgaria from Spain. Then the court imposed her the highest detention measure on the grounds that the businesswoman might hide abroad again.Her husband Vetko Arabadzhiev is also in custody.

The Prosecutor's office is expecting the Romanian authorities to finalise the extradition procedure for six Bulgarian nationals detained with the European arrest warrant, involved in the biggest scheme for telephone frauds in Bulgaria, reports BNT. 

A 45-year-old Lithuanian national who had escaped from prison in his country was arrested on Friday in Thessaloniki on a European arrest warrant.
He  reportedly violated a two-day prison furlough in April last year while serving a six-year prison sentence and has since been wanted.
He appeared before a Thessaloniki prosecutor in order to begin extradition proceedings

A 38-year-old Canadian national wanted in Poland on charges of participating in a criminal gang and money laundering has been arrested at Promachonas in Serres, northern Greece, authorities said on Monday.
According to reports he was arrested at the Bulgarian border on Sunday night on a European arrest warrant.

A Greek national was arrested in Thessaloniki on Wednesday on a European arrest warrant issued by judicial authorities in Germany over tax evasion charges.
