Number of Greek citizens grows since 2015 legislation
The number of people who acquired Greek citizenship more than doubled in the past two years, mainly due to the implementation of a June 2015 law benefiting children born in Greece to foreign parents and thos who have been in the Greek education system for a certain number of years.
More Albanians acquire Greek citizenship
The largest group of foreign nationals that obtained Greek citizenship in 2016 were Albanians (88 percent), followed by Ukrainians (1.5 percent) and Russians (1.2 percent), according to data from the European Union's statistics office Eurostat.
According to the same data, 33,210 foreigners became Greek citizens that year.

Nearly 55 percent of the unemployed in Bulgaria were at risk of poverty after social transfers in 2016, according to Eurostat data from a survey of unemployed persons between the ages of 15-64 in the EU.

In January 2018, Bulgaria had the lowest minimum wage in the European Union, 261 euros, followed by Lithuania with 400 euros and Romania with 408 euros, according to Eurostat, published today.

Bulgarian Becomes First Woman Head of Eurostat
Bulgarian economist and statistician Mariana Kotzeva has been appointed Director General of Eurostat, the EU's statistics office, the European Commission said on Wednesday.
Kotzeva is not only the first Bulgarian to become a Director General within the European Commission but is also the first woman to head Eurostat.

Bulgarian Was Appointed For Director General of Eurostat
Mariana Kotzeva was appointed Director General of Eurostat by the European Commission on 21 February 2018. She is not only the first Bulgarian Director-General of the European Commission but also the first woman at the helm of Eurostat.
