Short-term external debt at $138 billion

Türkiye's short-term external debt stock increased by 13.6 percent compared to the end of 2021 to stand at $138.1 billion at the end of August, the Central Bank has announced.

Over the said period, banks' short-term external debt stock rose by 8.2 percent to $55.6 billion and other sectors' short-term external debt stock increased by 15.4 percent to $50.9 billion.

Private sector’s external debt at $162 billion

The private sector's total outstanding loans received from abroad declined by $7 billion from the end of 2021 to stand at $162 billion as of July, the Central Bank data have shown.

Long-term loans fell by $7.1 billion over the same period to decline to $154.5 billion, whereas the private companies' short-term loans -excluding trade credits - rose by $85mn to $7.6 billion.

Turkey's short-term external debt stock totaled $122.5 billion as of end of February 2020, the nation's Central Bank revealed on April 17.

Turkey's short-term external debt stock amounted to $118.2 billion as of the end of December, fresh data showed on Feb. 20.

The country's external debt stock - maturing within one year or less - soared by 4.3 percent in December versus the end of 2018, according to the Central Bank of the Republic of Turkey (CBRT).

Short-term foreign debt stock reaches $114.6 bln

Turkey's central bank on Jan. 17 reported that the country's short-term external debt stock amounted to $114.6 billion as of the end of November 2019.

The external debt stock -- maturing within one year or less -- increased by 1 percent in November, compared to the end of 2018, according to the Central Bank of Turkey (CBRT).
