Druga Godba, a long-running festival of world music, will bring 20 performers from 18 countries to Ljubljana between 22 and 30 May. The line-up includes acts ranging from Portuguese fado to flamenco, jazz and new African electronica.

Fado crossover sensation Dulce Pontes will join acclaimed tenor Mario Frangoulis on stage at the Athens Concert Hall (megaron.gr) for two nights on May 9 and 10, from an original plan for a single show. Their program is dedicated to the ports of the Mediterranean, with ballads from their native Portugal and Greece, but also from Italy, Spain, Corsica and more.

The Turkish Presidential Symphony Orchestra (CSO) will host Sara Correia, one of the best-known names in Fado music, and Ana Lains, known as the "painter of music," at the "Mediterranean Breeze" concert.

One of the best-known names in fado music, Portuguese singer Cristina Branco will perform at Istanbul's CRR Concert Hall on Oct. 20.

Portugal won the Eurovision Song Contest for the first time ever with a melancholy ballad performed by a singer who suffers from a serious heart condition.

The fado-tinged song "Amar Pelos Dois" was performed by 27-year-old Salvador Sobral, who is awaiting a heart transplant. 

Some 14 years ago, a young singer released her debut album. Few would have ventured the journey she was then beginning would take her so far away from home for so long. Not even after that record, 2001's "Fado em Mim," became a runaway success.

Two world-renowned names of fado music, Portuguese singers Carminho and Cristina Branco, will take the stage at Istanbul's Cemal Re?it (CRR) Rey Concert Hall on the weekend of Dec. 19-20. 

Famous Portuguese fado singer Dulce Pontes will be at Istanbul's ?? Sanat on April 3. Pontes performs in many musical genres such as pop, folk and classical and her songs helped contribute to the 1990s revival of a style of Portuguese urban folk music called fado.

BELGRADE - Prime Minister Aleksandar Vucic met on Tuesday with Portuguese fado diva Mariza to discuss charity campaigns for Serbia after the massive floods that swept through the country mid May.

Mariza joined the campaign organized by EXIT and Balkanopolis flood relief center for Serbia and Bosnia-Herzegovina (BiH).

BELGRADE - The cultural centre Parobrod in Belgrade will host a number of music events from February 13 to 15, including a concert of Tzootzonga Ansambl and an evening of French chansons on Valentine's Day, the organizers have said.
