Where eagle owls nest
The eagle owl (Bubo bubo) is Slovenia's largest owl. Its population in the country counts some 150 specimens. Many of them nest in the western region of Kras and enthusiasts taking part in the most recent monitoring there registered a record 16 nesting sites.

The Saker Falcon Returned as a Nesting Species in Bulgaria
The Saker Falcon returned as a nesting species in the country. The endangered species comes back to Bulgaria for the first time in ten years, informs the press office of the Bulgarian Society for the Protection of Birds. They were spotted at the Green Balkans Wildlife Rescue Center and released in 2015.
Wounded baby owl under protection
A long-eared baby owl that fell from its nest in the western province of Afyonkarahisar is undergoing a rehabilitation process. The owl, which sustained wounds to a wing and its feet, will be taken care of for up to three months before being released.

Owl chicks under protection in northern Turkey
In the terrace of a house in the northern Turkish province of Zonguldak's Ere?li district, five barn owl chicks - hungry because their mother has not returned for five days - have been taken under protection by local officials.
