Last Foreign Troops Leave Afghanistan, Taliban Celebrate

The hardline Islamist Taliban celebrated their total return to power on Tuesday with gunfire and diplomacy, after the last US troops flew out of Afghanistan to end two decades of war.

 The United States' longest military conflict drew to a close on Monday night when its forces abandoned Kabul's airport, where it had overseen a frenzied airlift that saw more than 123,000 people flee.

Evacuation of Afghan who helped Slovenia no longer possible via Kabul airport

Ljubljana/Kabul – The Defence Ministry is striving to get out of Afghanistan the remaining Afghan national of the two who had assisted the Slovenian troops and his family. At least two explosions have been reported near the Abbey Gate, being used for evacuations at Kabul airport.

One blast was near the Baron Hotel, being used as a staging post by Western nations for evacuations.

Victims including children, were killed in an alleged suicide bombing near Kabul airport, Reuters reported, citing a Taliban spokesman.
