Taxi chamber denies rumors of fare increase
An official from the Istanbul Taxi Professionals Chamber has refuted claims circulating on social media that the minimum fare for taxis has been increased to 75 Turkish Liras in Istanbul.
Despite the denial, local media reports indicate that some taxi drivers have already begun implementing the alleged hike, prompting concerns among passengers.

Greek ferry fares largely unchanged from last year
Ferry fares are largely unchanged this year in Greece compared to 2022, after the big rise last summer due to the jump in the cost of energy and fuel internationally.
Prices for economy-class tickets in August range from 40 to 90 euros, depending on the destination, the distance and the type of ship.

Intercity bus fares hiked ahead of Eid holiday
Coach companies have already hiked their prices for intercity travel ahead of Eid al-Fitr, which marks the end of the İslamic holy month of Ramadan.

Price caps set for intercity buses
The Turkish government has set price caps for coach services between the country's cities based on the distance traveled.
According to the decision published in the Official Gazette, the maximum bus fare for a trip up to 115 kilometers in distance will be 100 Turkish Liras (or around $14) while travelers will be charged 130 liras for up to a 250-kilometer trip.

Luxembourg is set to become the first country in the world to offer free public transport. From summer 2019, tickets will be abolished for buses, trams, and trains in the small EU Member State. The Grand Duchy's public transport system apparently costs €1 billion to operate each year, but fares anyway amount to only €30 million (i.e. just 3% of the total operating costs).
Study in the pipeline to improve transport ticketing system
In response to the increasing number of commuter complaints over the new electronic ticketing system for public transport in the capital, the Athens Urban Transport Organization (OASA) has decided to commission a study in a bid to help improve the situation.
