Fourteen Turkish-origin Germans elected to Bundestag
Fourteen Turkish-origin German citizens were elected to Germany's Bundestag in the Sept. 24 general elections.
According to the temporary initial results, Aydan Özoğuz, Metin Hakverdi, Mahmut Özdemir, Cansel Kızıltepe, Gülistan Yüksel and Elvan Korkmaz were elected on the ranks of the Social Democrats (SPD).
Popular TV host murdered in Istanbul hotel laid to rest
Vatan Şaşmaz, a renowned TV host and anchor, was laid to rest at a funeral ceremony on Aug. 29 at Istanbul's Güzeltepe Birlik Mosque, after he was shot dead in a hotel room in Istanbul's Beşiktaş district on Aug. 27.
Şaşmaz's relatives, colleagues, and fans attended the ceremony in the city's Üsküdar district. Following the funeral prayer, he was laid to rest at Çengelköy cemetery.
Branch Fell on a Baby Cart in Kardzhali
A four-month-old baby was admitted to an emergency room at the Kardzhali hospital after a tree branch fell on its stroller yesterday at one of the busy alleys of Prostor Parkl and injured its legs, Darik reported.
The incident was also confirmed by the head of the department Dr. Filiz Abidin.

A court in Istanbul ordered on March 9 two times aggravated life-term sentences for Atalay Filiz, a Turkish "serial killer" who became widely known after committing a series of murders, Doğan News Agency has reported.
Filiz, 30, accused of murdering three people, including a Russian national, was sentenced on charges of "committing deliberate murder."
