Orthodox Christians in Bulgaria, Greece and other churches observing the Gregorian calendar are celebrating Thursday the holiday of St Demetrius. 

Due to his Slavic origin the saint is honoured by all Slavic peoples and for the Bulgarians and Serbs he is the patron of the entire Slavonic world. 

The Great Bulgarian Summit, brought into existence by both NGOs and public figures, is set to take place on September 16-17 at the alleged mount of Khan Kubrat (605-665 AD) near the village of Mala Pereshchepina, central Ukraine.

A team of archeologists in Veliki Preslav has discovered a unique golden heart previously applied to the garment of a high-ranking person.

Archeologists assume that this person was Tsaritsa Maria, wife of Tsar Petar (927-970).

During excavations in the medieval fortress Agatopolis in Bulgaria's Black Sea town of Ahtopol, archaeologists have discovered a gate resembling those in Preslav, Pliska and Drustur.
