Time for the grape harvest. One can ask if isn't it too early, but the vineyard calendar seems to be constantly changing and challenging for wine producers. The grape harvest I'm talking about is what we call "sofralık" in Turkish, literally meaning "for the table," for the grapes that are not meant to end in bottles, but to be eaten out of hand as fresh fruit.

Turkey's pomegranate exports in the January-September period of this year increased by 19 percent compared to the same period of the previous year and reached $69 million. Among this pomegranate production, the Aegean province of İzmir's Selçuk district comes forward with its harvest abundance. (AA Photo)  

Since the beginning of the year, the Bulgarian Food Safety Authority (BFSA) has seized 27 118 kg of pepper and pomegranate imported from Turkey, the agency's press center reported.
