Minus zero temperatures in northern Greece
A cold front that swept into Greece on Friday brought subzero temperatures and frost to many parts, mostly in Western Macedonia.
The Meteo weather service of the National Observatory of Athens recorded the lowest temperatures on Friday morning in Neos Kafkasos in the municipality of Florina (-13.7C) and the town of Florina itself (-11.3C).

Injured bear survives four days caught in illegal snare in Prespes
A young male brown bear survived subzero temperatures and a deep gash in its stomach after becoming ensnared in an illegal trap designed to catch wild boar in northern Greece's Prespes lake district before being rescued by members of the Callisto wildlife conservation group, the Athens-Macedonian News Agency (ANA-MPA) reported on Monday.
Freezing temperatures on the mountains; rain expected as of Friday
Τemperatures dropped below zero on Wednesday (Christmas Day) in several mountainous areas of Greece, Greece's National Meteorological Service (EMY) said, warning that a new cold front will bring rain and snow as of Friday.
Man dies in Ptolemaida after hunting accident
A 67-year-old man died on Monday morning after being accidentally shot during a wild boar hunt in a forested area between the northern Greek towns of Kozani and Florina on Sunday.
According to reporters, a fellow hunter mistook him for their quarry.
He was rushed to a hospital in the town of Ptolemaida, where he underwent surgery but died.

Dozens of dogs poisoned in 10 days
More than 50 dogs were fatally poisoned within the space of 10 days in villages of the regions of Florina and Amyntaio in northern Greece, according to reports received by the Arcturos wildlife protection group, the Hellenic Ornithological Society and the Callisto nature conservation organization from locals and livestock breeders.

Mitsotakis stresses law-and-order, national unity, Prespa Accord, tax cuts

Main opposition New Democracy leader Kyriakos Mitsotakis stressed his law and order platform, his opposition to the Prespa Agreement, and his opposition to pre-election handouts during the last two days of the European Parliament and local elections campaign in Florina and Thessaloniki.
Five bears released back into the wild by Arcturos
The Arcturos bear sanctuary in the village of Nymfaio, near Florina, on Tuesday announced that five orphan bear cubs that were cared for at its facilities have now been released back into the wild.

Land register for parts of northern Greece, three islands open
Property owners with homes or plots of land in Kastoria, Florina, Drama, Xanthi and Halkidiki or on the islands of Samos, Icaria and Chios have until May 30 to declare their assets on the online land register.
The assets can either be registered at local or regional land registry offices or online at www.ktimatologio.gr
Okeanis hits northern Greece hard
The weather system Okeanis swept across Greece over the weekend, pushing down temperatures and bringing snowfall to much of northern Greece and mountainous parts of Attica.
The cold snap hit the north hardest, taxing motorists and cutting off access to the monastic community of Mount Athos.
