Turkish health minister says eight have died of swine flu amid rise in viruses

Eight people diagnosed with swine flu have died in Turkey, Health Minister Mehmet Müezzino?lu has said, amid a rise in viral infections over the past 10 days.

"The number of patients who have died after being diagnosed with the H1N1 virus is eight," Müezzino?lu said, answering parliamentary questions on Jan. 5. 

28 flu-related deaths reported in Serbia

BELGRADE - Twenty-eight deaths that can be associated with the flu have been reported in Serbia so far, Dragana Dimitrijevic, the national flu coordinator at the Dr Milan Jovanovic Batut Public Health Institute, said on Wednesday.

Dimitrijevic said that 86 percent of the patients who died had a chronic disease or a risk factor, and that 21 of them were over 55 years of age.

Health Ministry: 360 test positive for swine flu

Health Minister Mehmet Müezzino?lu said on March 21 a total of 360 patients out of more than 4,300 samples have tested positive for swine flu, also known as H1N1.

"A total of 360 patients tested positive for H1N1," said Müezzino?lu, adding the ministry has been closely monitoring developments regarding the virus.

One dead from H1N1 in western Turkey

A 53-year-old woman died from the H1N1 virus, also known as swine flu, in the western province of Kocaeli on March 15, raising concerns over the increasing number of dangerous flu cases in the country.
 
The woman, identified as Güler Akba?, was receiving treatment at Farabi State Hospital after being hospitalized on March 13 due to fever.
