NGOs to get international support for gender equality

The European Union and U.N. Women are set to provide financial and technical support to 22 civil society organizations in Turkey with an aim to advance women's rights and gender equality in the country.

Representatives of organizations from 17 province across the country came together for an award ceremony in Ankara with the participation of U.N. Women and EU senior officials.

Flying Broom Film Fest presents honorary awards

The 24th Flying Broom International Women's Film Festival awarded the recipients of its honorary awards on June 4.

Actress Nur Sürer and actress-singer Zuhal Olcay received the honorary awards on June 4 at a ceremony held at the CerModern Arts Center in Ankara.

Films from 33 countries will be screened online for film enthusiasts until June 11 as part of the event.

Flying Broom Film Fest closes online amid outbreak

The 23rd Flying Broom International Women's Film Festival came to a close on May 14 with a videoconference ceremony as the world continued to grapple with the novel coronavirus.

A total of 1,301 women directors from various countries applied for the festival this year.

Seventy-six films from 31 countries were screened online for film lovers.

Emma Watson to travel to Turkey to attend women’s film festival

British actress Emma Watson will be the guest of the next year's edition of the Flying Broom Women’s Festival, the organization has announced.

Watson was recently appointed as the U.N. goodwill ambassador on gender equality and became the spokesperson of a new campaign, “HeForShe,” which calls on men to stand up for women’s rights.
