Foreign involvement in the Russian invasion of Ukraine

Amid a new Russian offensive on various fronts in Ukraine, Athens is examining a list of old and newer requests from Kyiv for military aid from the reserves of the Hellenic Armed Forces. 

Russian air defenses have successfully intercepted multiple Ukrainian drones flying over Russian territory. This development comes amidst Ukrainian President's renewed plea for expedited deliveries of weapons and ammunition to bolster the Ukrainian army's capabilities.

Washington has finally acted to offer Ukraine new help. Additional military support for Ukraine was a matter of debate for months in the US Congress. In the end, Speaker of the House of Representatives Mike Johnson put the matter to a vote, the proposal passed by a margin of 311 to 112, and new American weapons and money are now on their way to Ukraine.

A few days after the start of the Russian invasion of Ukraine, the Greek government responded positively to the request to send a weapons package to the defending country. According to available data, Athens has already supplied the Ukrainian armed forces with bullets, artillery shells, assault rifles, anti-tank and anti-aircraft missiles, armored vehicles and towed howitzers.

The US Congress has finally approved a long-awaited aid package for Ukraine, totaling nearly 61 billion USD, including military assistance. The bill's passage comes as a crucial lifeline for Ukraine, although concerns persist over the country's ability to match Russia's military spending.

Spain's defence minister said on Friday Madrid would deliver Patriot anti-aircraft missiles to Ukraine, following pressure from NATO and European Union allies to send more military aid to Kyiv.

Shoigu's remarks came during a speech to defense officials, where he emphasized Russia's military gains and the need to counter Western support for Ukraine.

China has surged sales to Russia of machine tools, microelectronics and other technology that Moscow in turn is using to produce missiles, tanks, aircraft and other weaponry for use in its war against Ukraine, according to a U.S. assessment.
