US will not immediately exit NAFTA, Trump tells Canada, Mexico

President Donald Trump on April 26 told the leaders of NAFTA partners Canada and Mexico that the United States will not immediately move to exit the regional free trade agreement.

The announcement followed U.S. media reports that Trump was considering giving formal notice of pulling the United States out of the North American Free Trade Agreement.

Trump Says He Won't Pull US Out of NAFTA

President Donald Trump has told the leaders of Mexico and Canada that he will not pull out of the North American Free Trade Agreement, ABC News reports.

The White House made the surprise announcement in a read-out of calls Wednesday between the world leaders.

The White House says the president "agreed not to terminate NAFTA at this time."

Trump says US, Russia ties are at 'all-time low'

U.S. ties with Russia are at an "all-time low" due to Syria, President Donald Trump has said, adding that they want to improve ties with their Cold War enemy. 

"Right now, we're not getting along with Russia at all - we may be at an all-time low in terms of our relationship with Russia," Trump said alongside NATO Secretary-General Jens Stoltenberg at the White House on April 12. 

Mexico vows to impose tariffs if Trump presses wall payment

Mexico's foreign minister has warned the United States that his country will impose tariffs on U.S. products if President Donald Trump taxes Mexican imports to finance a border wall.

"If Mexico is faced with this as a reality, not a rhetorical threat... the Mexican government will have to respond," Foreign Minister Luis Videgaray told Radio Formula on Feb. 24.
