Foreign relations of North Macedonia

Prime Minister Boyko Borissov will take part in the The Berlin Process to The 2019 Western Balkans Summit in Poznań, Poland on July 5th. The Heads of State and Government will discuss the achievements and challenges facing the Western Balkan countries.

,,Bulgaria is the serious driver of the European integration of the countries of the Western Balkans'', said Vice President Iliyana Yotova to the participants in the international conference "Geopolitics and the Western Balkans: A Look from the Region", which took place in the capital of Montenegro Podgorica.

Roaming charges between Macedonia, Serbia, Montenegro, Albania, Kosovo and Bosnia and Herzegovina in July will be reduced by 27% and will have to be dropped completely in 2021, according to the recently signed Regional Roaming Treaty between the Western Balkan countries.

The European integration of the Western Balkan countries and the engagement with the neighboring regions should be a key priority of the European Union, Bulgaria's Deputy Premier and Minister of Foreign Affairs Ekaterina Zaharieva said at the EU Foreign Ministers Summit in Luxembourg. The enlargement policy has proved its transformative power.

Bulgarian Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs Ekaterina Zaharieva, together with the ministers of 12 other EU member states, urged acceleration of the European integration of the Western Balkans, the press center of the MFA announced.
 

Brnabic pointed out that the relations between Serbia and Croatia are important for the stability of the region, and that, consequently, it is necessary to improve the dialogue and intensify cooperation in resolving open issues.

Bosnia and Herzegovina's success in the European accession process contributes to the stability and prosperity of the Western Balkans and the European Union as a whole, Prime Minister Viorica Dancila said on Thursday at a meeting she had with the Prime Minister of this country, Denis Zvizdic.

China, however, has not changed its pragmatic position toward North Macedonia and remains interested in deepening economic cooperation with the country, regardless of the government in power.

In that context, relations between Skopje and Beijing are important to analyze.

According to it, Belgrade and Pristina "agreed to press ahead with their efforts to implement existing agreements and to engage constructively in the dialogue for the normalization of relations, through the EU, with the aim of reaching a comprehensive and final agreement."

Greek Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras arrives at a historic visit to Skopje, the World Agencies have reported.
 
This is the first visit of a Greek prime minister to the former Yugoslav republic. According to France Press this is the first Greek leader in Skopje in many years.
