Romania Welcomes Boost to NATO's Eastern Flank
Romanian officials have welcomed NATO's decision to establish a new rapid reaction force on its border with Russia, as a result of which the alliance will boost troop numbers in Poland and Romania and establish six new command centres in Central and Southeast Europe.

European Commissioner Cretu offers mediation between Romania, Hungary on cross-border cooperation
European Commissioner for Regional Policy Corina Cretu discussed the Interreg V-A Romania-Hungary cross-border cooperation programme on Monday with Romanian Foreign Minister Bogdan Aurescu. She offered her mediation between the governments in Bucharest and Budapest to unblock this programme.
