'Deeply misguided' to wall US off with tariffs, warns Yellen

U.S. Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen has pushed back on Republican presidential candidate Donald Trump's proposals of high tariffs on allies and rivals, calling such moves "deeply misguided" weeks before the Nov. 5 election.

Her remarks delivered in New York come as Trump vows to impose across-the-board levies on U.S. imports, with a particularly high tariff level on Chinese goods.

China tariffs to remain in place pending review: US

The US government has confirmed it will continue enforcing the tariffs on Chinese goods imposed by former president Donald Trump, following hundreds of requests from American companies.    

President Joe Biden had been considering how and whether to remove some of the tariffs by his predecessor, amid pressure to offer some relief to soaring U.S. inflation.    

Turkey’s exports break new record last month

Turkey's exports rose 33.4 percent to $21.5 billion in November, Trade Minister Mehmet Muş said at a news conference organized to announce the preliminary foreign trade figures in Ankara on Dec. 2. 

Turkish exports hit $221 billion in the last 12 months, while the figure reached $203.1 billion in the first 11 months of this year, he added.

Trump Accuses China of Trying to 'Impact' US Election with Trade War

AFP - President Donald Trump on Tuesday accused China of seeking to influence upcoming US elections by taking aim at his political support base in the countries' escalating trade war.

"China has openly stated that they are actively trying to impact and change our election by attacking our farmers, ranchers and industrial workers because of their loyalty to me," Trump tweeted.
