Italians voted May 31 in regional elections seen as a key measure of the fading fortunes of ex-premier Silvio Berlusconi and an important test for centre-left Prime Minister Matteo Renzi.

Italy's Berlusconi wins early release from community service
Silvio Berlusconi, the disgraced former Italian prime minister, will not have to serve the final 45 days of a one-year community service order he received for tax fraud, a judge ruled Feb. 2.
Media tycoon Berlusconi, 78, has been serving the order by helping out with Alzheimer's patients at the Cesano Boscone care home near Milan every Friday since last May.
