Bulgarians Celebrate St. George's Day - The Day of Courage and the Bulgarian Army
On May 6, Bulgarians celebrate St. George's Day - the biggest spring holiday, since 1880 it has been celebrated as the Day of Courage and the Bulgarian Army.
It is a name day for more than 200 thousand Bulgarians who bear the name of Saint George the Victorious.

The Orthodox Church commemorates one of the most revered saints, the great martyr George the Victorious.
On St. George's Day, more than 220,000 Bulgarians have a name day, and Georgi (George) is the most common male name in Bulgaria. Nearly 152 thousand people in the country have it.

Bulgarians Celebrate St. Catherine’s Day
On 24 November the Bulgarians are celebrating the Day of St. Catherine who died for Christian faith as young as 18 at the beginning of the 4th century AD.
In Bulgaria St. Catherine is venerated as a patron of all mothers and is depicted as protector from illnesses in the folklore calendar.

Pilgrims crowd at St. Savvas hospital to worship St. Barbara’s relics (photos + video)
Hundreds of pilgrims gathered at Saint Savvas hospital from early on Friday to worship the relics of Saint Barbara being taken to the cancer clinic on Friday. The holy relic arrived in a silver casket shortly after 10 a.m.
