German Foreign Minister Frank-Walter Steinmeier has stated that the strained relations between the US and Russia are worse than during the Cold War. According to him, they are destroying the last vestiges of trust between the two biggest countries in the world, reported the Russian section of Dеutsche Welle.

Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov has told his German counterpart Frank Walter Steinmeier there was "no need to fuel tensions" over the RS Day referendum.

In a telephone conversation on Thursday, Lavrov called on Steinmeier to focus instead on "encouraging the Bosnian sides to start a constructive dialogue," the Russian Foreign Ministry said in a statement carried by TASS.

The two leaders on either side of Cyprus are set to meet United Nations Secretary-General Ban Ki-moon on Sept. 25 on the sidelines of the U.N. General Assembly, as part of efforts to solve the decades-long conflict on the divided Mediterranean island.
