German media is focusing on the Greek crisis, predicting that it could eventually lead to the country defaulting. The article notes that the EU has to intervene once more to prevent the threat of the country failing.

Denmark has announced it is closing its border with Germany, daily Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung reports.

The development is a reaction to Sweden's move, hours earlier, to introduce passport control with Denmark, the newspaper quotes the country's PM Lars Lokke Rasmussen.

The measures is in force "starting immediately".

Manfred Schmidt, head of the federal agency for migration and refugees in Germany, has resigned, German daily Frankfurter Allgemeine Zeitung has reported.

Schmidt has cited personal reasons for the move.

This comes after tens of thousands of migrants have arrived in Germany over the past weeks.
