Turkey's shameful press freedom record

It was in 2014 when the Freedom House decreased Turkey?s press freedom status from partly free to not free as a result of sharp deterioration in press freedom in 2013. Today, Turkey, along with its Middle Eastern, African, Gulf and many close and far Asian neighbors, enjoy the category of ?Not Free? in the media freedom.

Democracy in Bulgaria in Decline for 8th Consecutive Year - Freedom House

Democracy in Bulgaria has been in decline for the past 8 years, according to an annual report of US-based NGO Freedom House.

Bulgaria's democracy score registers a minor change from 3.25 to 3.29 on an annual basis, according to the Nations in Transit 2015 report of Freedom House.

Bulgaria is ranked as a semi-consolidated democracy.

Hurrah: Partly free again

Turkey must be celebrating, God knows with how many days of festivities. Alms should be distributed to the obedient subjects of the absolute ruler, the new tenant of the new imperial palace. There is a huge reason to celebrate: While the 2013 media freedom report of the Freedom House on Turkey condemned the country as "not free", the 2014 country status was declared to be "partly free."

Freedom House on political rights, civil liberties in Serbia

WASHINGTON - In the latest report on political rights and civil liberties by Washington-based NGO Freedom House, Serbia earned grade two, on the scale from one to seven, with one signifying the highest degree of freedom.

Among 195 countries, Serbia earned grade two, the same as last year, as regards political freedoms and respect of civil rights.

Balkan ‘Dysfunctional' Govts Blamed For Democratic Failings

A new report by Freedom House ranked Kosovo, Bosnia, Albania and Macedonia lowest in the Balkan region in terms of democratic standards.

Kosovo is rated the worst in the region, with a democracy score of 5.14 on a scale of 1 to 7, where 1 represents the highest level of democratic progress and 7 the lowest.
