Furlough scheme will be extended, Janša says

Ljubljana – The furlough scheme, a measure aimed at preventing lay-offs due to the Covid-19 epidemic, which was to expire at the end of the month, will be extended with the eighth stimulus package at least until the end of April, Prime Minister Janez Janša tweeted before today’s cabinet session dedicated to the epidemiological situation.

Citu: Holiday vouchers of 1,450 lei to be granted to public-sector employees in 2021

Bucharest, Dec 30 /Agerpres/ - Prime Minister Florin Citu announced on Wednesday that in 2021 holiday vouchers in the amount of 1,450 lei will be granted to public-sector employees, this measure being included in the emergency ordinance on fiscal measures initiated by the Ministry of Finance.

Employees cry foul over Xmas bonus

Complaints by workers about employers' foul play regarding the Christmas bonus have increased significantly this year, with a number of businesses failing to pay their staff an extra month's salary by last Monday, while others credited it to their employees' accounts and then asked them to return it in cash, according to the General Confederation of Greek Labor (GSEE).

Employment Service expects 88,000 unemployed by end of 2020

Ljubljana – Some 84,700 unemployed persons were registered with Slovenia’s Employment Service on average in the first eleven months of 2020, up 14.5% compared to the same period in 2019. Currently, 84,732 unemployed persons are recorded, however the figure is expected to rise to some 88,000 at the end of the year, Employment Service head Mitja Bobnar said.

Payouts set for the next three weeks

The Labor Ministry is planning to implement payouts by December 21 to a series of workers who in the last few months have found themselves in a peculiar labor status with contract suspension, the forced closure of the enterprises where they work, teleworking and special-purpose leaves in a bid to respond to the unprecedented conditions of the pandemic.
