CCTV camera pole ‘blocking Galata Tower’ in photos to be relocated
The Istanbul governor has ordered to move a CCTV camera pole placed in front of the Galata Tower to another location following complaints from tourists as it stands as an obstacle for people trying to take their photos with the 14th-century structure.

Restoration in Istanbul’s iconic tower creates political firestorm
Cell phone footage of restoration workers drilling down the stone wall of Istanbul's 14th-century Galata Tower created a political firestorm. An officer of the Istanbul Municipality tweeted a clip of two restoration workers taking apart a corner section of the tower's inner wall with jackhammers. A pile of large stones lay at their feet as they worked.
Istanbul’s landmark tower to be revamped: Minister
Restaurants and offices inside the Galata Tower will be evacuated and the historical tower will be turned into a museum, Turkey's culture and tourism minister Mehmet Nuri Ersoy announced on June 8.
