Sicilian town gives away homes on one condition…

Here’s one interesting way to rejuvenate certain abandoned regions of mainland Greece, mostly in rugged mountainous areas, or even remote islands: grant people an abandoned residence on the condition that it will be restored!
That’s what one town in Sicily, Gangi, is doing, and it’s apparently working.

Hundreds of thousands of tourists visit the Greek ruins at the Valley of the Temples situated in the south-west coast of Sicily. Tourism in the region is set to change following the development of a drone’s-eye view of the site developed by Helmut Hlavacs from the University of Vienna.

Italy Finds 75 Migrants on Bulgarian-Flagged Yacht, Arrests Three Ukrainian Smugglers

The Italian authorities have intercepted a Bulgarian-flagged yacht carrying 75 migrants four miles off the town of Tricase, Salento region, the Italian newspaper La Pepubblica has reported.

The migrants - 58 men, seven women and 10 children - were probably nationals of Afghanistan, Iraq and Somalia, the newspaper reported on Sunday.

According to Deloitte Turkey, Turkish companies have bought foreign companies worth a total of $16.5 billion between 2010 and 2014. The highest figure was in 2014. This year, Turkish companies paid a total of $7 billion for foreign companies. 

In the purchases made in 2013, there was the San Clemente Island in Venice, bought by the Permak Group for 150 million euros. 

St. Barbara’s relics on display in Greece from May 10-24

The sacred relic of Saint Barbara will be on display at the Greek Orthodox Church of Agia Varvara at the western suburb of Athens, Peristeri, from May 10 through to May 24. The relic will be welcomed by Archbishop Ieronymos of Athens and All Greece during a special ceremony when it arrives in Athens from the Venetian island of Murano.

Firefighters recover main black box from Norman Atlantic

Italian firefighters at the port of Brindisi have recovered the main black box data recorder from the Norman Atlantic ferry but there are fears that it may have been seriously damaged by the fire that broke out on board.

Another black box had been discovered on Friday. Italy?s Rai TV reported that authorities believe the fire may have been caused by a short circuit.
