Unregistered properties to be confiscated

The state is set to become the legal owner of properties in 111 areas around the country (including 20 in Athens and Thessaloniki) whose real owners have not declared their assets to the land registry offices (Ktimatologio) that are about to complete 14 years of operation, according to the head of the property owners federation (POMIDA).

Safe deposit gang suspected in robbery using sledgehammers

The so-called "safe deposit gang" apparently struck again early on Wednesday morning in the suburb of Gerakas in eastern Attica, police said.

According to reports, six men entered a building housing a marketing company at the intersection of Komotinis and Imathias streets at around 3.30 a.m. and used sledgehammers to break through a wall into an office in an adjacent building.

Athens police net gang that preyed on vulnerable

A gang that robbed elderly people and teenagers in the northern suburbs of Athens has been broken up, police said on Thursday, adding that five suspects - three minors, aged 12, 14 and 15, and two adults, 20 and 23 - had been arrested.

According to the investigation, the gang targeted people who would put up the least resistance, such as seniors and minors.

Greek authorities issue international warrant over priest killing

Greek authorities have issued international warrants for the arrest of two suspects believed to be behind the killing of a 47-year-old priest, east of Athens, last month.

The victim was found dead in a pool of blood at his home in Gerakas on February 13.

Both suspects are Pakistani nationals, aged 28 and 33, authorities said.
