IAR Brasov has reported a net profit worth 14.12 million RON for the first quarter of this year, an increase of 11 pct over the same period of last year, when it reported a net result of 12.72 million RON, according to a report sent on Monday to the Bucharest Stock Exchange (BVB).

Prime Minister Viorica Dancila said on Monday on a visit to the IAR Ghimbav aeronautical company that in order to be able to talk about competitiveness and performance, modern technology is needed and the government will provide support where necessary.

Airbus and IAR Ghimbav signed on 6 November 2018 the final exclusive collaboration agreement for a period of 15 years, a document whose principles were established by signing an initial agreement on 24 August 2017, according to a press release sent to AGERPRES on Wednesday.

French President Emmanuel Macron is starting his first official visits to Central and Eastern Europe, heading on Thursday and Friday to the Romanian capital, Bucharest, and to Varna, on Bulgaria's Black Sea coast.

Airbus has announced it intends to build helicopters at a new plant at Ghimbav, close to the central Romanian city of Brasov, in an investment worth about 40 million euro.

The plant is to be built on a 27,000-square-metre plot offered by IAR Ghimbav, a company controlled by the Romanian state.
