Sea turtle meets tragic end on Nafplio beach
Yet another loggerhead sea turtle (Caretta caretta) was found fatally wounded on a beach in Nafplio in southern Greece Thursday. The turtle had received multiple blows to its head and shell and was discovered by passers-by strolling on the beach.

The governor of the southern province of Antalya has issued a call for protection of four endangered species of the Mediterranean Sea, including sea turtles, dusky groupers, seahorses and tower shells.

Endangered caretta carettas have started spawning on İztuzu beach in the western province of Muğla's Ortaca district.
Caretta carettas leave their eggs in 50-60-centimeter-deep holes. The incubation period is nearly 50 days and then baby turtles reach the sea.
