Ukraine has launched an investigation into former Georgian President Mikheil Saakashvili for illegal entry into the country, TASS reported.

Yesterday he illegally and forcefully crossed the Ukrainian-Polish border. According to the border police, 12 policemen and five border guards suffered in clashes with guards of Saakashvili.

President of Ukraine Petro Poroshenko turned to the US Congress with a request for an increase in the aid his country receives, the Izvestia newspaper quoted FOCUS News Agency as saying.

The US is considering supplying lethal arms to Ukraine, US Defense Secretary James Mattis has stated during a visit to Kiev. Washington has also agreed to supply Ukraine with an additional $175 million worth of equipment.

At a regular government meeting, ministers are going  to approve an annual report on the state of national security in 2016,BGNES reported.

Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko will meet U.S. President Donald Trump in Washington on Tuesday, Poroshenko's office said, Reuters reported.
"It is very important that my meeting, as the Ukrainian president, in the White House will be earlier than Putin's meeting," it quoted Poroshenko, who is already in the United States, as saying.

Ukraine and Turkey are set to sign an agreement allowing their citizens to travel to each other's countries without passports, Ukrainian Prime Minister Vladimir Groysman has said ahead of a two-day visit to Turkey's capital Ankara starting on March 14.

Ukrainian President Petro Poroshenko intends to call a referendum on whether his country should join the NATO.

He plans to do this "given polls that show 54 percent of Ukrainians now favor such a move," Reuters reported, quoting Germany's Funke Mediengruppe.

In an interview with German daily Berliner Morgenpost, he has said the will of Ukrainians must be taken into account, citing an increase in support among Ukrainians for joining the alliance.
