Turkey is set to sharply cut its imports of substances that damage the Ozone layer, due to the United Nations' Montreal Protocol, the Environment Ministry has announced.

BELGRADE - Serbia is doing everything it can to enact new regulations that will limit the use of materials that damage the ozone layer, Serbia's Minister of Agriculture and Environment Protection Snezana Bogosavljevic-Boskovic said on September 16, the International Day for the Preservation of the Ozone Layer.

The amount of greenhouse gases in the atmosphere reached a new record high in 2013, propelled by a surge in levels of carbon dioxide, according to the World Meteorological Organization.
