Greek merchant fleet sees slight increase in 2024 amid decreased tonnage
The Greek merchant fleet increased by 0.2% in May 2024 compared with May 2023. A decrease of 0.6% was recorded in May 2023 compared with May 2022, the Hellenic Statistical Authority (ELSTAT) announced on Thursday.
Additionally, the gross tonnage of the Greek merchant fleet, for vessels of 100 GRT and over, recorded a decrease of 3.5% in May 2024 compared with May 2023.

An e-certification system for all Hong Kong-registered ships and ships applying for registration was put in place in 2023 by the Hong Kong Shipping Registry (HKSR), the fourth largest register in the world in terms of gross tonnage with about 2,400 ships that aggregate some 129 million gross tonnage.
Greek merchant shipping fleet down in November
The Greek Merchant Fleet, for vessels of 100 GRT and over, decreased by 1.3% in November 2015 compared to November 2014, while the above Greek Merchant Fleet recorded a decline of 2.3% in November 2014 compared to November 2013, Hellenic Statistical Authority said on Friday.
