U.S. Treasury Secretary Janet Yellen said in an interview that aired on June 28 she hopes to travel to China to "reestablish contact" with Beijing despite differences between the two countries.

"Moscow and Kyiv are just days away from finalizing an agreement that will allow millions of tons of Ukrainian grain to pass through the Black Sea", Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan said.

Turkish and Italian leaders met to hold their third intergovernmental summit and to sign new agreements to boost bilateral cooperation.

A day before the EU Summit, Athens, turns its attention to Rome, focusing on the dinner Mario Draghi has invited the Greek PM to on Wednesday night. Government sources describe the Italian prime minister's table with his Greek counterpart as a one-on-one meeting that will help build closer relations.

Greek-Turkish relations on the table

The Italian government has said it was forking out nearly 6 billion euros ($6.7 billion) in fresh aid to help households and firms buffeted by soaring energy bills.

The cabinet-approved package comes of top of some 10 billion euros already budgeted since last summer to shelter customers and businesses.

An extraordinary meeting of the Group of 20 major economies to discuss Afghanistan will take place on 12 October, Italian PM Mario Draghi announced on Wednesday, Reuters reported.

The EUMed 9 Summit will be held on Friday in Athens, at the Stavros Niarchos Foundation Culture Centre (SNFCC).

Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan held a phone call on Sept. 8 with the Italian prime minister, saying Turkey expects Italy, a NATO ally, to respond appropriately to the importance it attaches to bilateral relations.
