Italian-American carmaker Fiat Chrysler confirmed this morning that it is negotiating a merger with the French car group PSA, which owns Peugeot, France Press and DPA reported.

French automaker PSA said on June 4 that it would pull out of two joint ventures to sell its cars in Iran to avoid the risk of U.S. sanctions after Washington withdrew from a key nuclear deal with Tehran.

French automaker PSA Group posted a 42 percent increase in first-quarter revenue, lifted by its acquisition of Opel-Vauxhall.

General Motors Co. is selling its loss-making European car business - including Germany's Opel and British brand Vauxhall - to French automaker PSA group.

The sales of Dacia cars recorded, last month, a solid increase in Europe (EU plus EFTA), and the market share of the domestic carmaker maintained at 3 percent, according to the statistics of the European Car Makers' Association (ACEA), published on Tuesday.
