Mexico extradited its drug lord Joaquin "El Chapo" Guzman to New York on Jan. 19, likely ending a decades-long criminal career that included two jail breaks and a lead role in a national drug war, the day before Donald Trump assumes the U.S. presidency. 

Actress Kate del Castillo is ready to answer questions about her links to drug kingpin Joaquin "El Chapo" Guzman, but only if quizzed on US soil, her attorney said on Feb. 4.

Drug lord Joaquin "El Chapo" Guzman was eager to set up a face-to-face meeting with Mexican actress Kate del Castillo, and had apparently never heard of Sean Penn, according to transcripts of over a month of text messages exchanged between the two.

Hollywood star Sean Penn interviewed notorious drug lord Joaquin “El Chapo” Guzman at a secret location soon after his escape from a maximum security prison in July.

Guzman had escaped from Altiplano prison in July and was recaptured on Friday after months of chasing him.
