The second Talat Sait Halman Translation Award, which is given by the Istanbul Foundation for Culture and Arts (İKSV) in honor of Talat Sait Halman to support outstanding translations of literary works, was presented on Dec. 20 at a ceremony at the Nejat Eczacıbaşı building.

A new book by Hürriyet Daily News writer Niki Gamm has been published by Çitlembik Publications. Titled ?White Plume,? the book describes the story of 12-year-old Charles Henby.

Turkey’s first ever culture and tourism minister, Talat Sait Halman, passed away on Dec. 4.

Halman was born in Istanbul in 1931. He studied at Istanbul’s Robert Collage and got his master’s degree in political science from Columbia University.
