Hatay Archaeology Museum

Visitors will soon be able to stay in a hotel in the eastern province of Hatay designed around and featuring archaeological finds dating back to the Hellenistic, Roman, Byzantine, Medieval and Islamic periods.

Turkey has three new entries in the UNESCO Creative Cities Network (UCCN): Istanbul as a city of design, Kütahya as a city of crafts and folk art, and finally Hatay (also known as Antioch) as a city of gastronomy.

The archaeology museum in the southern province of Hatay, one of the richest places in Anatolia in terms of archaeology, will soon be home to the world's largest mosaic collection when its second stage is finished within the next six months. 

A Roman-era mosaic that was unearthed at a construction site in the southern province of Hatay in April will soon be promoted in Paris. 

According to a statement made by the municipality, the "skeleton mosaic" will be promoted to the world on Oct. 25 as part of the "Mosaic Road project" by the ONE Association, which aims to promote Anatolian mosaics to the world.

What could be considered an ancient motivational meme which reads "be cheerful, live your life" in ancient Greek has been discovered on a centuries-old mosaic found during excavation works in the southern province of Hatay.

I was at the southern province of Hatay this weekend for a comprehensive event organized by the Turkish Industry and Business Association (TÜS?AD). Hatay, which has a population of 1.5 million, is now hosting 500,000 refugees. 

Now in its new location, 40 percent of the Hatay Archaeology Museum is open to visitors, displaying thousands of artifacts dating back to the Stone Age.

The restorer heading the reportedly ?botched? restoration of ancient mosaics in the southern province of Hatay has denied the accusations, saying even the smallest movement of stones would have changed the size of the mosaic.

The Culture and Tourism Ministry has refuted claims that the restoration of ancient mosaics in the southern city of Hatay has seriously damaged the works, saying the photos published in the press were taken during the initial phase of the restoration.
