Pakistan plane carrying 47 crashes, reportedly on fire

A Pakistani plane reportedly carrying 47 people crashed Dec. 7 in the mountainous north of the country and burst into flames, police and aviation authorities said, AFP reported.

Pakistan International Airlines (PIA) Flight PK661 came down on a flight from the city of Chitral to Islamabad, the civil aviation authority said.

A Pakistan International Airlines flight carrying more than 40 people crashed on Dec. 7 en route to Islamabad from the northern city of Chitral, a regional police official said.

The national flag carrier confirmed in a statement that Flight PK-661 had lost contact with air traffic controllers on Dec. 7 afternoon.
