Hawass

A city that has been lost in sands and was founded more than 3,400 years ago has been unearthed in Luxor, south Egypt, Zahi Hawass, head of the Egyptian archeological mission that is responsible for the discovery, said Thursday, Al Balad newspaper reports.

A global event dedicated to civilizations and tourism is due on Tuesday and Wednesday in Bulgaria's capital Sofia.

Bulgarian Prime Minister Boyko Borisov is set to inaugurate the event which will bring together Tourism Ministers from around the world.

Egyptian-born actor Omar Sharif, who starred in "Doctor Zhivago" and "Lawrence of Arabia", died on July 10 in Cairo aged 83, his London-based agent said.
