Milka Vasileva, president of the Bulgarian Association of Health Care Professionals, has raised alarm over the state of the healthcare system, revealing that a third of nurses and a quarter of midwives are of retirement age. She warned that the departure of these seasoned professionals could lead to a collapse of the system.

The tension between the health minister and the Panhellenic Medical Association is an acute symptom of a chronic ailment - the lack of organization in the public health system and the absence of necessary coordination with the private sector. Earlier today, NHIF Governor Prof. Dr. Petko Salchev said that the management of the NHIF has no information on how much it costs to treat a patient with COVID infection.
