Romania to Cut Drug Prices Starting Next Month
Romania will have the lowest price in Europe for medicine, following a 20 per cent cut for all medicine products, planned to take place starting from July, according to Health Minister Nicolae Banicioiu. The move follows the allignment of local pricing legislation with European Union norms.

World’s oldest doctoral candidate, 102, receives medical research-related PhD
According to the Guardian, German and US-trained pediatrician Ingeborg Syllm-Rapoport, finally received her PhD on Tuesday almost 80 years after the Nazi regime denied her the right to defend her dissertation because her mother was a Jew.
She was handed her PhD certificate during a celebratory ceremony at the University of Hamburg, according to the newspaper.
Trial of nursing student accused of stabbing peers adjourned to 2016
The trial of a 22-year-old nursing student who allegedly stabbed three fellow students in April has been adjourned to March next year.
The 22-year-old, who is facing charges of grievous bodily harm, alleged in her initial deposition that she had been a victim of bullying at the nursing school, which is operated by Greece?s Manpower Organization (OAED).
Pharmacies in Athens to close on Wednesday due to strike
Pharmacies in Athens will be closed on Wednesday in protest at the government?s plans to allow non-prescription drugs to be sold in other stores.
The measure was included in the proposals sent by the current coalition to is lenders last week. The previous government had also been poised to adopt the reform but met with resistance from pharmacists.
Albania Arrests Nine Over Health Insurance Fraud
Four officials and five owners and employees of pharmacies accused of stealing 56 million leks (400,000 euro) have been arrested in recent days as the Albanian government faces its biggest corruption scandal since it came to power 18 months ago.
Two similar cases involving suspected fraud of several million euros are also currently under investigation.
