Airports report 9.3% growth in Jan-Nov
Passenger traffic levels soared at airports throughout the first 11 months of 2024, setting a new record before the end of the year, according to figures released on Tuesday by the Civil Aviation Authority.
These showed a 9.3% increase in passenger traffic relative to January-November 2023, or 76,249,626 passengers in 2024, up from 69,774,369 in 2023.

Passenger traffic at Athens airport was 9.3 pct up in July
Passenger traffic at Athens' international airport posted a 9.3% increase in July 2024, compared to the same month of 2023, according to figures released by the airport.
Passenger traffic at Eleftherios Venizelos airport in July amounted to 3.61 million. Both domestic and international passenger traffic exceeded last year's figures by 5.9 percent and 10.8 percent.
Aegean adds fourth daily flight to London Heathrow
Aegean Airlines has secured another slot at London's Heathrow airport and is adding to its schedule a fourth daily flight from Athens to the UK's busiest international hub, it said on Tuesday.
The new flight will operate every day throughout the year except on Saturdays, leaving Athens at 4 p.m. local time and London/Heathrow at 7 p.m. local time.

Gatwick scraps 160 flights over air traffic control shortages
London's Gatwick airport has said that it had been forced to cancel more than 160 flights between yesterday and Sunday due to an exceptional shortage of controllers, partly caused by coronavirus infections.

The British carrier's move aims to minimize disruption to flights during the winter period. Some journeys to distant destinations will also be affected.

London's Heathrow Airport announced yesterday that it narrowed annual losses only slightly in 2021 despite the reopening of global air travel, blaming what it said were stricter passenger curbs in Britain compared to the neighboring EU.
Heathrow recorded pre-tax losses totalling 1.8 billion pounds ($2.4 billion) last year, it said in a statement.

Flights to Denmark will start from 3 June and will be operated twice a week - on Wednesday and Sunday. Billund is famous because of the Lego Company (founded there in 1932)
