Defense Ministry’s new armament package imminent 

Defense Minister Nikos Dendias is preparing to present, within the next few days, a twelve-year defense package designed to strengthen and modernize the country's defense capabilities.  

The plan, based on operational needs identified by armed forces staff, is expected to be presented to the Parliamentary Arms Committee by mid-November for approval.

The launching ceremony for the frigate “Nearchos,” the second of the three FDI frigates (known as Belh@rra), acquired by the Hellenic Navy, is currently underway. The event took place at the Naval Group facilities in Lorient, France, attended by Greece’s Minister of National Defense, Nikos Dendias.

The launch of the “Nearchos,” the second FDI HN frigate—also known as Belh@rra—of the “Kimon” class, is currently taking place in the presence of Minister of National Defense Nikos Dendias. The frigate is being constructed at the Naval Group shipyards in Lorient, France, for the Hellenic Navy.

Belh@rra: Today the launching of the “Nearchos”, the second French frigate for the Hellenic Navy

The launching of the “Nearchos”, (Belh@rra or FDI in the French Navy and Kimon-Class for the Hellenic Navy), is taking place today in the presence of the Minister of Defence Nikos Dendias.

The frigate is being built at the Naval Group’s shipyards in Lorian, France, for the Greek Navy.

Second Belh@rra frigate launched – Possibility of acquiring a fourth

Turkey’s expansionist strategy and the asymmetric threats facing Greece are guiding Athens’ decisions to strengthen the country’s defenses. Reinforcing the Hellenic Navy and developing new weapons systems are essential. Several defense programs are already in progress, while the government is preparing to make important decisions within a tight fiscal framework.
