Defense Minister Nikos Dendias is preparing to present, within the next few days, a twelve-year defense package designed to strengthen and modernize the country's defense capabilities.

Greece assumes command of EU’s Operation Aspides
Greece is set to assume naval command of Operation Aspides, an EU military mission launched in response to missile and drone attacks, since last November, on commercial vessels in the Red Sea by Yemen's Iran-backed Houthi rebels, who view Israel as an enemy.

The launching of the “Nearchos”, (Belh@rra or FDI in the French Navy and Kimon-Class for the Hellenic Navy), is taking place today in the presence of the Minister of Defence Nikos Dendias.
The frigate is being built at the Naval Group’s shipyards in Lorian, France, for the Greek Navy.
