Defence Minister Nikos Dendias will visit the islands of Kos and Patmos on Wednesday and Thursday, he ministry said.

Dendias will visit military guard posts, accompanied by Chief of the Hellenic National Defence General Staff, General Dimitrios Choupis, and Chief of Hellenic Army General Staff, Lieutenant General Georgios Kostidis.

Turkish and Greek fighter jets engaged in a dogfight over the eastern Aegean islet of Ro on Thursday afternoon, as a helicopter carrying the Chief of the Hellenic Army General Staff, Lieutenant-General Georgios Kambas, was trying to land.
The Turkish F-16 jets entered Greek airspace and flew one mile over Ro. They were soon intercepted by Greek fighter jets in a brief dogfight.

The leader of the nationalist Independent Greeks (ANEL) party, Panos Kammenos, whipped up a storm of sorts on Tuesday, hinting that his successor at the Defense Ministry, Evangelos Apostolakis, was being sidelined by his alternate minister, Panagiotis Rigas, and the chief of the Hellenic Army General Staff (GES), Giorgos Kambas.

The further enhancement of Greek-Israeli military cooperation was discussed during the three-day visit to Israel by the Chief of the Hellenic Army General Staff, Lieutenant General Alkiviadis Stefanis, at the invitation of Major Yaacov Barak, Chief of the Ground Forces Command.
