PM denies ‘parallel program’ was withdrawn
An announcement issued by the office of Greek Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras stated that the Radical Left Coalition (SYRIZA) government’s draft bill for a ‘parallel program’ has not been withdrawn. The statement condemned the “irresponsible” stand of the three opposition parties that walked out of the debate before the relevant Parliament committee on Wednesday.

Austerity extended – 153 lawmakers vote in favor of Greek budget for 2016
Greek lawmakers discussed the austerity-extending 2016 budget in Greek Parliament on Saturday before a roll call vote took place after midnight. As expected, the budget was voted in by Greek Parliament with 153 votes in favor, and 145 against from the 298 ministers who voted.

Economy Minister George Stathakis and State Minister Alekos Flambouraris have been refered to the assets declaration committee of Greek Parliament’s auditors for further investigation into their wealth statements.

Greek PM wants a party leaders’ meeting to achieve consensus, but opposition isn’t impressed
Party leaders of Greek Parliament viewed the initiative of Prime Minister Alexis Tsipras to hold a meeting of party leaders with suspicion. The PM called Greek President Prokopis Pavlopoulos on Thursday, calling for a meeting to brief leaders on the refugee crisis and pension system reforms, however opposition parties are cautious and reserved regarding the meeting.
15 employees in Greek Parliament have fake degrees
Greek Parliament currently employs at least fifteen employees who were found to have provided fake degrees when they applied for the job. The revelation came on Wednesday following a review of the qualifications of civil servants working at Parliament House.

Greek Parliament’s President Nikos Voutsis on Friday initiated procedures to re-establish a Parliamentary Committee to reclaim German war debts for Greece. His proposal for a committee to look at Greece’s claims afresh will be submitted within the next few days to the Parliament Conference of Presidents for discussion and then to the plenum by the end of the month.
