Number of doctors posts rise in 2016, despite brain drain

The number of registered doctors in Greece rose in 2016 after the brain drain of the preceding five years, according to data published on Wednesday by the Greek Statistical Authority (ELSTAT).

The number of registered doctors in 2016 was 70,964, the highest in the last decade and 3.6 percent more than 2015.

Unemployment rate eased to 20.2 percent in third quarter

Greece's jobless rate fell to 20.2 percent in July-to-September from 21.1 percent in the second quarter, data from the country's statistics service ELSTAT have showed.

About 75.6 percent of Greece's 970,000 jobless are long-term unemployed, meaning they have been out of work for at least 12 months, the figures showed on Thursday.

Greek unemployment dips to 20.5 percent in September

Greece's jobless rate eased to 20.5 percent in September from an upwardly revised 20.7 percent in August, the country's statistics service ELSTAT said on Thursday.

Seasonally adjusted data showed the number of registered unemployed at 981.126 people, with younger persons aged up to 24 bearing the brunt of being out of work.

Greek economy expands at slower 0.3 pct q/q pace in third quarter

Greece's economy expanded for a third straight quarter in July-to-September but at a slower pace than in the previous quarter, statistics service (ELSTAT) said on Monday, upwardly revising data for the second quarter.
   
The seasonally adjusted data showed gross domestic product grew by 0.3 percent in the third quarter, at a slower compared to 0.8 percent in April-to-June.
